Ex-President Benigno Aquino III said that he will go against Davao City ex-Mayor and currently our current President Rodrigo Duterte if he turns out to be a dictator and continue the legacy of his martyred father ex-President Ninoy Aquino. May 3, 2016, where he gave an unforgettable speech where he said that he will defend the country from coming back to the old era where the experimental martial law failed."Hindi ko matatanggap na walang nangyari sa pagkamatay ng tatay ko at iba pa nating mga kababayan, libo-libo po. Kailangan ibuhos ko yung magagawa ko. Kung buhay ko ang katapat iyon lang ang tangan sa akin, e dapat hindi ganun kaimportante yung buhay ko dahil hindi ko mailalaban yung ipinaglaban ng tatay ko. Hindi magkakaroon ng kabuluhan,"Aquino stated. Aquino's father passed away in Aug. 21, 1983 which lead to EDSA People Power Revolution where people protest against a dictatorship of Marcos. Aquino said that he received many text and messages that he is the only one who can stop the upcoming "dictatorship" of our current president.
April 29, 2016, GMA News interview President Duterte which shows the dark past of the Philippines martial law. Aquino recited Duterte's word that Duterte had to abolish congress if Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV would continue to carry out his threat to impeach the President. In the interview, the president said that "Kapag natalo ka patay ka, Every revolution that succeeds, siya ang tigas. He now becomes the authority. Ako na ang Congress. Ako na ang Presidente." "He's a lawyer but I'm not. But I studied the Constitution and I challenge everyone to look into the Constitution: where is the power of President to abolish Congress? He might abolish the Supreme Court next. But look for it, there is no such right," Aquino said. Aquino also said that Congress and SC were the one who checks and balance system to prevent abusing of one's power. He also said that Duterte has a plan to form a revolutionary government and plan to have a martial law and his claims
"Walang batas-batas. Ako ang masusunod. Ako ang tama. Ako ang magaling." Aquino corrected Duterte and also mention his mother, the ex-President Cory Aquino that leads the Revolutionary government from 1986 to 1987.
"My mother didn't exercise power all by herself. She immediately came up with the 1987 Constitution which was approved by 90 percent of Filipinos," Aquino said.
Aquino was worried because of Duterte's bad behavior and foul mouth that can lead to country's trouble and cause bad international relations.
"Katulad yung kanyang pagsasalita ay naiiba. Okay na kaya iyon? Iyon bang ganung klase pagsasalita magdadala ng isang kilong bigas sa kaninumang hapag? Kapag naghanap tayo ng kakampi at binati mo ng pabalagbag, ilan kaya ang kakampi sa atin? E mabigat yung kalaban natin sa South China Sea," Aquino said.
